Meeting the Growing Demand for Primary Care Services
At Moseley Avenue Surgey, we understand the increasing demand for primary care services and the importance of timely access to healthcare. As a trusted GP practice, we strive to provide the highest quality care to all of our patients. However, we are recently experiencing a higher than usual rate of missed appointments, both Face to Face appointments and Telephone appointments, also known as DNAs (Did Not Attend). This trend is impacting our much-needed capacity and our ability to serve all patients in need. We kindly request your understanding and cooperation in helping us address this issue by canceling appointments at least 1 hour in advance, ensuring that another patient can benefit from the available slot.
The demand for GP appointments has been steadily increasing, reflecting the growing need for primary care services in our community. We recognise that access to timely healthcare is crucial for maintaining good health and managing medical conditions effectively. Our dedicated team of healthcare professionals are committed to providing comprehensive and personalised care to every patient who seeks our services. However, the high rate of DNAs is hindering our ability to meet the needs of all patients and deliver the quality care they deserve.
The Impact of Missed Appointments:
Missed appointments not only result in wasted resources but also prevent other patients from accessing the care they require. Each missed appointment represents a missed opportunity to provide medical assistance to someone in need. Furthermore, it affects our ability to effectively manage our schedule and allocate our limited resources efficiently. By canceling appointments at least 1 hour in advance, you help us optimise our capacity and ensure that every patient receives the care they require in a timely manner.
To address the issue of missed appointments, we have implemented robust measures to encourage patients to cancel appointments they are unable to attend. By doing so, you enable us to offer the appointment to another patient who may be in urgent need of our services. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter, as it allows us to better serve our community and meet the growing demand for primary care. We will be implementing a 3 strikes policy. We will also be advertising how many DNA's each month on our waiting room TV screen in hopes to significantly reduce the number of missed appointments and to show the need of why we are having to implement such robust policies.
- 1st DNA - Email to the patient to please try to cancel in future, and that sometimes it can't be helped and DNA code added to your medical record.
- 2nd DNA - As above, and with a warning regarding missed appointment with failure to cancel
- 3rd DNA - Final warning, explaining that any further DNA's without being cancelled with at least 1 hour's notice will result in a meeting with Management and the Partners to discuss potential removal from the practice, on a case-by-case basis.
We are understanding of individual difficulties and circumstances and take this into account, however as we need to provide a good service to all of our patients in a timely manner, we ask that this policy be respected.
Thank you for cancelling your appointment.
